In town for the 1964 World's
Fair, Samuel Beckett, the brilliant Irish novelist, playwright,
poet-- winner of the 1969 noble prize in literature--
attended a double header at Shea Stadium. During the course of the
twin bill, Beckett consumed an enormous quantity of beer that forced
him to chat with Jane Metansi, the young virile woman from Corona
who was selling him those suds.
As the mythical rumor goes, after both games were over, Beckett
and Jane snuck into the bullpen and knocked boots till the Sun came
home.... Nine months later and five years back to the future, Jane
gave birth to Mr. Met!
During the course of his life, Beckett neither denied nor confirmed
the siring.
On December 22, 1989, Samuel Beckett gave up the ghost.
so yes, Samuel Beckett is a fan of the Mets.
